Troys path to wellness has been a unique one. At a young age he was diagnosed with an aggressive autoimmune condition called Dermatomyositis, as a result he was presented with a long list of physical limitations early on in life. But the idea of limitations, especially those set upon him by others didn't sit very well with him, so he made a habit of ignoring them. Refusing conventional treatment plans Troy decided to pursue a balanced and holistic lifestyle. Little by little he pushed the boundaries of what those around him thought was possible. After years of hard work, relentless optimism, and the help of a strong support system Troy overcame many of his life's greatest obstacles. Now an avid hiker, calisthenics enthusiast, and fledgling yogi Troy hopes to bring the same level of intensity and enthusiasm to Optimal Self that he’s brought to the rest of his life.
Outside of Optimal Self Troy is a photographer, videographer, and coffee lover. He can usually be found strolling through Portland, dipping in and out of his favorite cafes with his camera in tow, petting puppies and making puns that he’s pretty sure everyone else thinks are as funny as he does.

"I surprised myself last year. I found that I enjoy going to the gym, I enjoy being fit, capable, and strong. I am convinced now of the importance of building strength in our bodies. I feel, actually, totally transformed." | Sally
"I've worked with four other trainers in my life, and no one compares to Eric! He gently pushes me in the best way possible to have a great well-rounded workout. It's never about him, it's about empowering me." | Lauren
