T'ai Chi is for anyone looking for a group-oriented routine that will enhance their health and longevity; searching additional relief for chronic pain and other health issues; wanting to add adjunct training to their physical therapy practice; and, anyone seeking to maintain youthfulness and have a rigorous path to greater agility.
Michael Elliott learned Cheng Man-Ch’ing's short form from a traveling mime in 1970 and has been expanding the vitality of its practice without interruption ever since. Teachers along the path have been Robert W. Smith (Chinese Boxing, Masters & Methods), Laddie Sacharko (Star Farm, CT), Ramel Rones, and Stephen Bennett (Slow Dance School, CT). Chicago and the new millennium brought in the opportunity to study Yang Classical long form with Peter & Hau Kum Kneip, and in 2011 the Star Farm certification in 8 posture "T’ai Chi for Better Balance” was brought to the Portland YMCA by Mr Elliott. In addition to 40 years of T’ai Chi practice, he has a Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from National Louis University.
